Cerebra invites researchers worldwide to apply digital sleep analysis to their sleep research data.

For Immediate Release

Winnipeg, Canada

The way we measure sleep is changing with a new generation of sleep performance metrics. Dr. Magdy Younes, renowned sleep researcher and developer of Odds Ratio Product (ORP) Sleep Depth is actively collaborating with researchers worldwide who are interested in applying ORP and associated digital sleep metrics to their research data.

Now, Cerebra is opening access to this suite of digital metrics through the Cerebra Research Portal, a free service where existing study files can be autoscored and analyzed using digital sleep analysis to uncover a new level of insight. This free service is available exclusively to research and not-for profit organizations.

ORP Sleep Depth is an objective, clinically validated and fully digital measure of sleep depth. It is based on power spectral analysis of the EEG signal in response to limitations of the traditional R&K scoring method. By using 3 second epochs and unique algorithms, this new metric is capable of capturing thousands of levels of sleep depth at any point in time, helping researchers understand sleep like never before.

Researchers around the world are now using ORP to gain new, in-depth insights into their data. ”For decades, researchers have relied on conventional, manual analysis of sleep based on rules developed in the 1960s. Even after automating some of this analysis, only the very basic qualities of sleep are detected,” explains Dawson Reimer, CEO Cerebra. “ORP is a breakthrough in sleep analysis technology and it is continuing to fuel new research to help advance our understanding of brain activity when we sleep and the important impact it has on quality of life, performance and longevity.”

Along with ORP Sleep Depth, Cerebra Research Portal provides access to a growing suite of sleep performance metrics including ORP-9, Right/Left ORP and sleep spindle characteristics.

Researchers are encouraged to visit cerebra.health/for-professionals to sign-up for access to the Cerebra Research Portal and explore how ORP Sleep Depth and Cerebra digital sleep analysis can support their research.

About Odds Ratio Product (ORP)

The development of ORP Sleep Depth as a digital measure of sleep quality is a breakthrough in sleep analysis technology and continues to fuel new research, helping to advance our understanding of brain activity when we sleep and the important impact it has on quality of life, performance and longevity. ORP is based on power spectral analysis of the EEG signal and was developed by renowned medical researcher Dr. Magdy Younes in response to the limitations offered by the R&K scoring method.

Cerebra ORP Sleep Depth is available exclusively through the Cerebra Research Portal, Prodigy DSA and Michele Sleep Scoring. Prodigy DSA is medical device software that has received approval by Health Canada for use in the assessment of sleep and diagnosis of sleep disorders. Michelle Sleep Scoring is a diagnostic medical device software that has received approval in Canada, the European Union and the United States of America.
